Heard in Our House Lately, Part Deux

(Thad has a little Bible that he really loves. It's very basic, with pictures, for little kids his age.)

Last night/this morning at approximately 3a:

“Dad! I brought you my big Bible. I am going to swap Bibles with you so you can have this one.”

“Thanks, Thad. That’s very kind of you.”

(Mommy giggling under covers.)

“You’re welcome, Dad. Enjoy your Bible!”

“I will. Thank you, again!”

“I am going in my room to read my Bible!”

(Mommy giggling maniacally but quietly.)

“Okay, Thad. I am just going to go to stay in my bed and sleep.”

“Well, okay. I’m just going to go read my Bible.”

(Little feet climbing back in his bed.)

(Little voice telling himself the Old, Old Story.)

Heard in Our House Lately

So, Thad has been on a linguistic roll lately. I knew you would want to hear the pearls dripping from his lips!

Background: “Poof” Car had been missing for about a month, which had caused quite a bit of consternation.

(Daddy and Thad putting on their coats to go to church. Thad was wearing a coat he hadn’t worn in about, oh, a month.)

(As he puts his hands in his pockets):

“Dad! Look! I found Poof Car!

“Wow, Thad, that’s great!”

“He was in my pocket!”

“Good job finding him. Where did you think he was?”

“Well, I thought either a monster or Sethie had taken him.”

(Seth is his cousin who is about 15 months younger than him but who does share some traits with Calvin of Calvin & Hobbes.)

Winds and Tornadoes and Hail OH! MY!

Pete and Thad did great with their first big Midwest tornado and hail storms! That particularly loved the aftermath! I think he playd in the hail for over an hour! Pete, meanwhile, steadied himself with a Makers Mark and Ginger (just kidding)!

Thad got out his shovel and decided to play!

He also found out that hail is round and slippery . . . BOOM!

Dad & Thad had a great time measuring the hail, storing some of it in the freezer for later fond remembrance, and scoping out the damage on the house. Our siding has a multitude of chunks missing and the roof will be repaired. We kept all our windows, but our neighbors were not so lucky.

All was not fun and games for everyone. Just over one mile away, people lost their homes and a family lost their three-year-old son. The three of us are very aware that we are not lucky, but very, very fortunate.

a Little Nostalgia

It doesn't matter whether you buy a toy gun or not; it's inevitable.

Thad got to be the first one in Uncle Matt & Auntie Bea's pool this season!

His bad mother forgot sunscreen :(

No tired cousins, here. Hm-mm. Nosirree.

I'm feeling a little nostalgic after having found this and some other clips on our hard drive . . .

Yet he is every bit as delicious now--I just can understand him now!
